Overview

In crafting the first film for the world's hugest-ever screen at Sphere, in Las Vegas, director Darren Aronofsky set out to make viewers forget they're in the Vegas.

Tackling the story of life on earth, Aronofsy tapped Jungle Run for epic locations, following our development support across eight sequences for One Strange Rock.

Alas, he set his sights on Kawah Ijen caldera, a remote and extreme environment that would put any crew to the test. Nevermind his camera was still being cobbled together and demanded its own data center everywhere it went. As Darren said, the whole shoot felt like "flying a plane while building it".

But, hey, in the end -- that plane is friggin' amazing! Joe and Djuna were lucky to catch the Postcard premeire, and... it's not a film. It's you and a thousand new friends flying around pointing out over-your-shoulder giraffes before everyone else misses them. Craning your neck through these 155-degree scenes, plan on three or four viewings to see most of this so-called "film".

Jungle Run Production Services

For Postcard from Earth, Jungle Run supported 70 foreign and local crew over 4 days filming inside a steaming volcano.

Logistics included 100 helicopter sorties, 200 porters, 150 onscreen extras, remote catering, bespoke porta-potties, a radio repeater network and housing for a caldera-rim data center sucking up 32 gigabytes per second. Plus hazmat kit for the clouds of sulfuric acid.

The team that filmed the NASA rockets for Postcard said our volcano shoot sounded like… “rocket science”.
