North Sulawesi, Bangka Island and Likupang

Overview

North Sulawesi is a gem in Indonesia in so many ways. Amazing wildlife, some of the best diving in the coral triangle in Bunaken National Park, and a warrior culture that spans thousands of years and our host Hamish Daud leads the way.

The waters around Bangka Island on the edge of Bunaken are a literal marine underwater wonderland. Turtles, dugong, sharks, rays, thousands of fishes and corals explode underwater. And on shore, stunning waterways through mangrove reveal birds and snakes and a host of other animals.

The Minahasa people here are fierce warriors and the their Kabasaran war dance is something you have to see.

The village of Likupang provides a jump off point to our adventure and culinary delights that we'll talk about in the next episode.

Jungle Run Production Services

Jungle Run Productions was commissioned by Discovery Channel Asia to produce Indonesia's Best Ever, 2 x 43 minutes with 80 minutes of social media and television cut-downs. Jungle Run partnered with Nusa Dewata studio for this project employing over 30 people during the Covid 19 pandemic. IBE was conceived by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy headed by Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.
